Camp is off and running

Summer camp has begun!  Our theme for the week is outer space, focused on the Creator.  About 30 elementary school children attended camp today.  They are enjoying learning new things, singing songs, making crafts, and playing sports.  Today we taught a general overview of outer space.  Tomorrow we will take a closer look at the Earth, moon and sun.

Please lift us up as we prepare for the rest of the week and to better serve the kids.  Lift up the kids as we talk about how big the Father is and how much of a need we have for Him.  Thank you for continually thinking about us and lifting us up.  We have felt your love in many ways.

Here are a few pictures of summer camp so far:

First Day at the School

We were finally able to get internet access!  Yay!  So far the Father has watched over us and given us safe travels.  We have been able to see many ways that He is at work.  It has been a privilege to be a part of the work being done here.

Here is a picture of us before we left filled with excitement in anticipation of our trip.  Even though we have traveled many hours and changed time zones, we are excited to reunite with old friends and students and to start new friendships.

We spent one afternoon and evening working with at risk pre-teens and teenagers at an after school center.  At the center, the students complete homework (with the help of a teacher if needed), make crafts, study the Word, and take turns preparing dinner.  As we played games and made bracelets, we got to know these teens, with the help of our translator.

Packed and Ready to Roll

Earlier this week we met to pack up our luggage and have an early send-off.  Thank you to everyone who had a chance to spend time with us before our departure and for lifting us up!  We are excited about the trip and are ready to head out in a few hours.  We will post an update as soon as we can after our arrival.

Support Update

Thank you for your thoughts and support. Please lift up our team as we raise our remaining support. We are in need of about $3,000. If you would like to support our team financially, you may do so online. Go to www.westoverchurch.com, select "Online Resources", then select "Online Giving" and follow the prompts. Please note: You will need to enter "Mission Fund" in the designation box and then enter "East Asia Team 2015" in the Memo field in order for the funds to be properly processed.

Thank you for your continued support. We are two weeks away from our departure! :) Please lift us up as we prepare for our time at the school. We are looking forward to seeing what the Father has in store for us!

Meet the 2015 Team

(L to R) Kathryn C., Susan H., and Dana D.
We are honored and excited to be going to East Asia this summer.  This is the second consecutive year that a Westover team will run a one-week camp for elementary aged children in East Asia.  We will have opportunities to meet and encourage local families and teachers.  As a part of the camp we will teach English and tutor students, lead music, coach sports, lead drama, etc.  We will also help out at a shelter for children of red light workers for several days.

We will update this blog periodically as we prepare for our trip and while we are away.  Thank you for the many ways you encourage and support our team!

Prayer Walk

Today we went on a prayer walk around the city.  We learned more about the history of the country and the city we are in.  We learned specific ways to pray for the people who live here, especially that they will see truth and love.  We also saw a wide variety of architecture and art.  Below is a photo of the team as we began our walk today.

This will probably be our last post until we are home as we will be traveling and may not have internet access.  Please pray for ministry opportunities as we complete our time here.  Thank you for your continued prayers!
